MAMES BABEGENUSH:

Aftenland

Aftenland is the 6th album from Mames Babegenush and recorded live in front of an audience. Expertly blending Eastern European folk traditions with original compositions, this album creates a tapestry of cinematic arrangements and vibrant dance tracks. A testament to the spontaneous energy, presence and intimate connection that defines the ensemble's now 20-year-old friendship.

Heartfelt melodies offering ample space for soul-stirring improvisation against an organic backdrop of harmonies and rhythms. Unfiltered and sincere, the album transitionings seamlessly from meditative passages to virtuosity while resonating with acoustic authenticity. Immersing listeners in dynamic interplay, Mames Babegenush crafts a fusion of tradition and innovation, painting lush, evocative soundscapes.

Mames Babegenush is the East meeting the North. Strong Scandinavian roots merge with the vibrant dance music of Eastern Europe, from the ambiance of Nordic pine trees to lively weddings in Romania, the music of Mames Babegenush gives a sense of both melancholy and ecstatic joy. Formed in Copenhagen in 2004 the six-piece group has played some of the most storied venues and festivals worldwide, eg. Carnegie Hall (US), Bergen International Festival (NO), Ravinia Festival (US), Royal Danish Theatre (DK), Schleswig-Holstein Festival (GER), Roskilde Festival (DK), and Paradiso (NL)
